Get to Know More About Me
Hi! My name is Tanya. I’m a multifaceted creative professional and I am dedicated to bringing thoughtful, engaging, and innovative designs to life. Because my career spans corporate market research, content writing and producing, textile and apparel design, product sourcing and development, i don’t just arrange text on a page. I design editorial layouts with a deep understanding of consumer behavior and commercial aesthetics. My work seamlessly blends creativity with strategy, ensuring every project is not only visually compelling but also purposeful.
My earliest professional experience goes back to the late 90s when I was a highschool student hired by my parents to make marketing collaterals for their machine shop business. My first task was to make a company profile to submit to prospective clients looking for the services they offered. Some projects I remembered them making were injection molds for Jollibee for the Jolly Hotdog packaging, door handle bars and trusses for hotels, under chassis frames for trucks, rotisserie contraption for Tagaytay Highlands, a popular tourist destination in the south of Manila PH, among others.
Looking back i really did not know what i was doing. But since my parents trusted me to do it, I just somehow did. I negotiated my pay at Php50.00 pesos a day with car service, free lunch and time off when i have plans with friends. It was a great work-life balance situation and I am so proud of my negotiation skills! Along with the staff, I got paid every Saturday and would spend every penny on books and magazines from Booksale, margherita pizza from Pizza Hut, my favorite butter pecan ice cream from Copenhagen Ice Cream Shop at the Uniwide mall right accross our shop, potpourri for my bedroom, and FA shower gels with matching lip gloss in the same scent. Those were “my thing” back then. Many things have changed since, but those never did even after a few decades.
Writing about this now, choosing a career in Editorial Design is a real full circle moment for me. I have always been driven by my desire for meaningful contributions in the field. I thrive on crafting content and visuals that resonate with real people. As an avid content consumer myself, I find joy in exploring new ideas to refine my craft and share my insights with others. I believe in collaboration, continuous learning, and the power of design to make a lasting impact. I am always open to new opportunities, welcoming connections, conversations, and creative challenges. I’m pretty sure that if my younger self knew what i am doing now, she would have said, “Hmmmm….i guess that kinda makes sense.”
